Two-Day Workshop on “Empowering Skills For Academic And Career Excellence”

A Two–Day Skill Development Workshop titled “Empowering Skills for Academic and Career Excellence” was conducted on 08.04.2026 & 09.04.2026 from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM at CA Lab 1 & 5. The Department of Computer Applications, School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences (SCIMS), organized the event.

The resource persons of this workshop were Mr. K.S. Rajaraman, Founder Director – Aptrikz, Vedic Mathematics Specialist & TEDx Speaker, and Ms. Dhivya Dharshini, Founder – Enlingua Academy, TEFL & TOEFL Certified Trainer. The participants of the workshop were Master of Computer Applications students who actively engaged in the sessions to enhance their aptitude and language skills.

One day Seminar on “Different Product Design Techniques Used in EV Industries”

A one-day seminar on “Different Product Design Techniques Used in EV Industries” was successfully organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology. The event was conducted in association with CADDAM Technologies on February 25, 2026, from 4:45 PM to 6:00 PM at the Seminar Hall, III Floor, Mechanical Science Block.

The seminar witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, The seminar was attended by students from EEE and Mechanical department . The session was informative and well-received, with participants showing keen interest in understanding real-world safety applications.

The seminar on Different Product Design Techniques Used in EV Industries was highly informative and beneficial for all participants. It provided valuable insights into the evolving landscape of electric vehicle technology and design methodologies. The session successfully enhanced students’ knowledge and motivated them to explore career opportunities in the EV sector. Overall, the seminar was a great success and contributed significantly to the academic and professional development of the attendees.

Seminar on “Design and development environments for IoT applications”

The Department of Computer Applications organized a Seminar on “Design and development environments for IoT applications” by Mr. Ramesh Kanna M, Senior Cyber Security Engineer, Integrate Pvt. Ltd, Chennai on 19th February, 2026 in CIIC Seminar Hall between 10.00 AM to 12.00 noon.

The coordinators for the event are Ms.S.Sabaria, Asst.Prof. / CA., Dr.R.Shanthi, Asst. Prof. / CA., Dr.K.Jose Reena, Asst. Prof. / CA., Dr.R.Iniyavan Asst. Prof.(Sr.Gr)/ECE and Dr. Percy J.Sephra, Asst. Prof. / ECE.

The Seminar was attended by the B.Sc. (CS), B.C.A. (CTIS), B.C.A.(DS), BCA (AI) & BCA (CS) students and faculty of Computer Applications and Electronics and Communication Department.

The vote of thanks was proposed. According to the students, the seminar gave them a great learning experience and they were inspired.

Mr. Santhanam Ganesh, Vice President, Sales and Marketing delivered a talk on “Compounding Techniques for High-Performance Rubber Products”

Polymer Engineering Across Borders: A Global Alumni Webinar – Series 8 on Higher Education in Germany: Master’s Programmes and Global Opportunities by Ms. Shanthini Devi Alagamuthu, PG Scholar, Technical University, Berlin – 13th February 2026. The speaker share insightful thoughts on career opportunities and higher studies opportunities for polymer engineers in germany.


National Level Technical Symposium – Cybercrest 2K26

The Department of Computer Applications, under the School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences, organized the National Level Technical Symposium Cybercrest 2K26 on 11th February 2026 from 9:00 AM to 4:10 PM at the Auditorium, Convention Centre, Crescent Campus.

The symposium was conducted successfully with the active participation of students from various arts and science colleges, engineering colleges and universities. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Anjaneya Sastry Suddapalli, Project Manager, TCS, Chennai, as the Chief Guest. Keynote Address by Mr. Anjaneya Sastry Suddapalli focused on industry trends, professional growth, and real-world IT challenges on the titled “Overview of the new and emerging trends in IT services and managements”. The symposium witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various institutions across India.

2 Days FDP on “Matlab for Engineering Mechanics”

The two-day Faculty Development Program (FDP), titled “MATLAB for Engineering Mechanics”, took place on the 29th and 30th of January, 2026. This programme was organised under the able coordination of Dr. Syed Shaul Hameed and Dr. Pradeep Kumar D. Its primary objective was to empower faculty members teaching engineering mechanics with key computational skills, focusing on the application of MATLAB for both problem-solving and visualisation within this domain. The FDP adopted a blended learning approach, integrating self-paced online modules from MATLAB Academy with rigorous, instructor-led, hands-on sessions. Through this structure, participants not only gained theoretical knowledge via online resources but also engaged in practical exercises designed to reinforce their understanding and build proficiency in MATLAB-based solutions for engineering mechanics problems.

One Day Workshop on “Applications of Non-Destructive Testing of Materials in Industries”

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized a one-day hands-on workshop on Applications of Non-Destructive Testing of Materials in Industries held on 4th November 2025 at B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. Total 30 participants registered for this workshop. Including participants from academicians, research scholars and students.The main objective of NDT in industries is to ensure the reliability, safety, and quality of materials and components by detecting defects and irregularities without impairing their usefulness. This workshop has a charge of 200 INR to cover the expenses.

The speaker for the first session Mr. S.Syed Thahir, Consultant NDT, Sound Tech weld Inspection & consulting services, presented the topic “Applications of Non-Destructive Testing of Materials in Industries”. Followed by hands on training.

Workshop on “Skill Enhancement Programme on Power BI”

A One-day workshop on “Power BI” was held on 17th October 2025, by the Department of Computer Applications, Skill Enhancement Team. The workshop was conducted in Computer Applications Lab 5 from 10 am to 12.30 pm. Mr.J.Saravanakumar was delivering importance of Power BI business analytical tool. The workshop was designed as an interactive and practical session. It covered both theoretical concepts and real-time implementation of Power BI features. Participants performed hands-on exercises on sample superstore datasets to create dashboards and gain real-time analytical insights. Nearly 62 students of MCA second year have participated in the workshop and gained hands-on experience in Power BI.

National Conference on “Advances in Polymer Technology and Sustainable Materials (APTSM – 2025)” – 15th October 2025

The Department of Polymer Engineering, B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, successfully organized the Virtual National Conference on “Advances in Polymer Technology and Sustainable Materials (APTSM – 2025)” on 15th October 2025. The conference began with a welcome address by Dr. S. Shamshath Begum, Head of the Department (i/c), followed by the presidential address delivered by Dr. T. Murugesan, Vice-Chancellor. Felicitation addresses were delivered by Dr. N. Thajuddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Registrar, and Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean, School of Mechanical Sciences. The Chief Guest, Mr. T. Selva Kumar, Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Ralson India Ltd., Punjab, delivered the keynote address, highlighting industrial advancements, sustainable rubber materials, and Industry 4.0 practices. An invited lecture was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Kaushik Pal on emerging nanoarchitectonics in materials science. Dr. Hiran Mayookh Lal (Assistant Professor) coordinated the event.

The conference featured seven technical sessions covering advanced composites, nanomaterials, smart polymers, energy materials, biomaterials, sustainability, and advanced characterization. The conference provided a strong platform for knowledge exchange and research collaboration with oral presentations from academicians, researchers, and students across India and abroad, the. Best Presentation Awards were presented to recognize outstanding research contributions.


Guest Lecture on “Global Green Building Initiative”

A guest lecture on “Global Green Building Initiative” was organized by ISHRAE and Department of Mechanical Engineering, BSA Crescent Institute of Science and Technology on 13/10/2025. The presentation was delivered by Mr. P. Thalaiselvam, Manager – Corporate Sustainability Innowell Engineering International Pvt. Ltd, Chennai. Students from the Mechanical Engineering department and faculty members participated in the Guest lecture. Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean School of Mechanical sciences and Dr. A. S. Selva Kumar, Head of the Department – Mechanical Engineering felicitated the resource person. The guest lecture emphasized on importance of Green Building and its potential benefits.

Webinar on “Machine Learning for Everyone – Understand, Build, Deploy” – 10th October 2025

The Department of Computer Applications organized a webinar on “Machine Learning for Everyone – Understand, Build, Deploy” as part of its continuous efforts to enhance students’ technical knowledge and awareness of emerging technologies. The session aimed to introduce the fundamentals of Machine Learning (ML) and demonstrate its practical applications in real-world scenarios.

Mr. Karthickeyan Subramanian, Manager – Projects at AWS | CTS, was the esteemed resource person for the session. With vast industrial experience, he delivered an engaging and informative talk on the importance of Machine Learning, its implementation lifecycle, and deployment strategies using modern cloud platforms.

The webinar began with a welcome address, followed by an insightful presentation by the resource person. He explained the key stages of Machine Learning—understanding data, building models, and deploying them efficiently. The session also covered the latest tools and frameworks used in ML, encouraging students to explore hands-on learning. Participants actively interacted during the Q&A session, clarifying their doubts and discussing real-time use cases of ML in various domains.

Workshop on “Navigating Success: Essential Soft Skills for Career Advancement and Higher Education” (6th October 2025)

A one-day workshop titled “Navigating Success: Essential Soft Skills for Career Advancement and Higher Education” was organized by the Department of Computer Applications on 6th October 2025. The event took place at the Crescent Auditorium, Convention Center.

The workshop aimed to enhance students’ interpersonal competencies and professional readiness. Ms. Divya Dharshini delivered an insightful session emphasizing the importance of developing soft skills to foster career growth and initiate a successful professional journey. She elaborated on how improving one’s soft skills plays a vital role in overall career development.

Further, Dr. K. Javubar Sathick delivered a detailed session on “How to Crack Interviews”, providing valuable insights on interview readiness, handling common and technical questions, and presenting oneself professionally. His discussion emphasized the importance of preparation, grooming, and appropriate attire for interviews.

The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to clarify their queries and share their thoughts. Nearly 350 students, including MCA final-year students and UG final-year students from BCA (Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Technology and Information Security, Cyber Security & Data Science) and B.Sc. (Computer Science) programs, actively participated in the workshop.

A National Level Project Exhibition – PolyInnofest 2025 – 29th September 2025

The Department of Polymer Engineering organized the National Level Project Exhibition, PolyInnofest 2025 on 29.09.2025. Dr. S. Shamshath Begum, Head of the Department (i/c) welcomed the gathering and presidential address was delivered by Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Professor & Dean (SMS). Mr. Shreemukund Madhav, Director – Ascend Performance Materials, Chief Guest delivered the keynote address and Dr. S. S. M. Abdul Majeed, Professor & Director (Admissions) delivered the felicitation. Students from various colleges across India participated and showcased their projects with great enthusiasm. Mrs. J. Dafini, Assistant Professor, coordinated the event.


Inauguration of Technical Societies: Academic Year 2025-26

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has four professional societies: The Society of Mechanical Engineers (SME), the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Indian Society for Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE). These societies organize various events to benefit students. The inauguration ceremony for these societies, marking the start of the academic year (2025-26), was held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Seminar Hall – CIIC.

Dr. M. Mohamed Ismail, Dean (Academic Affairs) of BSAU, presided over the event and released the Department News Bulletin. Dr. A. S. Selvakumar, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, welcomed the gathering, and Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean of the School of Mechanical Sciences, offered felicitations. The guest of honor was Mr. S. Ranjith Kumar, DGM of Tooling and Product Development at Visteon Technical and Service Centre, Chennai. In his inaugural address, Mr. Ranjith Kumar shared his industrial experience and discussed career opportunities for mechanical engineering graduates. He emphasized that adapting to rapid technological changes will open significant opportunities in digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and sustainable product innovation. However, success still depends on continuous skill development, adaptability, and integrating modern tools with core engineering principles. He also praised the events organized by the technical societies. The event was well-received by both faculty and students of the department.

Shamshath Begum, Head of the Department (i/c) welcomed the gathering and dignitaries with a warm gesture. Mr. Ramesh Varadan, Managing Director, Yizumi Precision Machinery India Pvt. Ltd., Gujarat, Ahmedabad and Mr. R. Suresh, Chairman-IPI Chennai Chapter, Advisor & Co-founder of United Industries Plastic Pvt. Ltd., were the chief guest. They shared the importance of industry expectations, and opportunities of polymer engineers. Dr. N. Thajuddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor, delivered the presidential address and shared his insights on department activities and excellence in polymer field. Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Professor & Dean (SMS), and Dr. S. S. M. Abdul Majeed, Professor & Director (Admissions) delivered the felicitation. Dr. R. Daulath Banu, Assistant Professor, coordinated the event.

One – Day National Level Workshop,” Cybersecurity: Awareness To Action” was organized on 17th September 2025, from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. The Department of Computer Applications, School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences organized the event. The Resource person of this workshop was Mr. R. Dhanoop, Cybersecurity Analyst, TechByHeart India Pvt. Ltd., and was held at the Auditorium, Convention Centre, BSA Crescent Institute.

The workshop was attended by students, faculty, and research scholars from colleges across Tamil Nadu and neighboring states. Over 500 participants from 21 different colleges and universities took part in the workshop.

Inauguration of Computer Applications Association and Computer Society of India

An event was organized on “Inauguration of Computer Applications Association and Computer Society of India” was held on 12 September 2025, scheduled from 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM in the Convention Centre Auditorium. It was organized by the Department of Computer Applications and the School of Computer Information and Mathematical Sciences.

The event commenced with a Qirath by Mr. Syed Bhurkhan – II-BCA (CTIS). Dr M Syed Masood, Head of the Department, Department of Computer Applications cordially welcomed the gathering. Dr. Sharmila Shankar, Dean/SCIMS, honoured the chief guest. Mr. J. Mohammed Arshad – II-MCA, presented the Annual Report. Mr. F. Mohammed Sharukhan – III-BCA (CTIS), has introduced the Chief Guest.

The inaugural address was delivered by the Chief Guest Mr. S. Gopinath, Scientist-F, Senior Technical Director, National Informatics Centre, Government of India. He spoke about the Emerging Technologies. Finally, the vote of thanks is conveyed by the Mr. Tom Joe James – II-B.Sc (Computer Science)

The speaker shared insightful thoughts about nano materials synthesis methods, current applications, and future prospects.


Industrial Visit to DIGIAURA VFX Academy Pvt Ltd

On August 20, 2025, an industrial visit was arranged to Digiaura VFX Academy Pvt. Ltd., located in Ekkattuthangal, Chennai. The visit commenced at approximately 10:00 a.m. A group of 71 students – students II – year BCA (Artificial Intelligence), accompanied by faculty members Dr. G. Gomathi, Dr. E. Manogar, Dr. I. Parvin Begum, Dr. N. Parvin, and Mr. Mohammed Jallaluddin, arrived at the academy around 11:00 a.m.

The purpose of the visit was to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the company’s animation development methodologies, artificial intelligence projects, and film-based technologies. During the visit, Mr. Shankar Natarajan, Director of Digiaura VFX Academy, delivered a detailed address outlining the organizational structure, ongoing projects, and the integration and impact of AI and animation technologies on current industry practices.

Guest Lecture on Role of Mechanical Engineers in Design Space – A Career Perspective

The ASME Students’ Section of BSACIST organized a guest lecture on the topic “Role of Mechanical Engineers in Design Space – A Career Perspective” on 14.08.2025 10.00 AM in the seminar hall, MS block. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Babu Devendiran, an industry expert, who addressed the students on the evolving role of mechanical engineers, especially in the context of Industry 4.0.

The session began with an introduction to the importance of mechanical engineering in modern design and manufacturing processes. Mr. Devendiran highlighted how mechanical engineers contribute significantly to product design, development, and innovation.

3 day National level workshop on Industry 4.0 – Industrial Design, Visualization & Conceptualization (6/8/2025 – 8/8/2025)

The industry 4.0 – Industrial Design Visualisation & Conceptualisation” workshop was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering along with MSME (Govt of India) and Equad Engg services Pvt ltd. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean – School of Mechanical Science and A. S. Selva Kumar, Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering and special address was given by Mrs Vaishnavi CEO Equad Engg Services. Around 30 students from Mechanical Engg, BSAR Crescent Institute of Science and Technology and M/s HL Mando Anand India Pvt ltd participated in the workshop.

At the end of the workshop certificates were issued to participants by Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean – School of Mechanical Sciences and Dr.S.Rasool Mohideen, Professor / Mechanical Department. Finally, Dr. Ravikumar, Coordinator concluded the workshop with Vote of thanks.

Seminar on “Opportunities for Global Education” on 1st August 2025

The Department of Information Technology, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, successfully organized a seminar titled “Opportunities for Global Education” on 1st August 2025 at IT Lab 3. The event aimed to provide students with valuable insights into higher education prospects abroad, including international opportunities for career growth, scholarships, and global exposure.The seminar was attended by the III Year B.Tech IT students along with the faculty members of the department. A total of around 64 students participated in the seminar.


One Day Faculty Training Program on 3D printing

In a forward-thinking initiative to promote technological fluency and hands-on innovation, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council, hosted a one-day faculty training program on 3D printing. Held on July 10, 2025, the event brought together over 15 faculty members from various departments—both teaching and non-teaching staff—with a strong presence from the Mechanical Engineering community.

The session was designed to demystify the 3D printing process and empower educators with practical skills that can be applied in classrooms, labs, and research projects. Participants praised the interactive format and expressed enthusiasm for future sessions.
