Webinar on “Machine Learning for Everyone – Understand, Build, Deploy” – 10th October 2025
The Department of Computer Applications organized a webinar on “Machine Learning for Everyone – Understand, Build, Deploy” as part of its continuous efforts to enhance students’ technical knowledge and awareness of emerging technologies. The session aimed to introduce the fundamentals of Machine Learning (ML) and demonstrate its practical applications in real-world scenarios.
Mr. Karthickeyan Subramanian, Manager – Projects at AWS | CTS, was the esteemed resource person for the session. With vast industrial experience, he delivered an engaging and informative talk on the importance of Machine Learning, its implementation lifecycle, and deployment strategies using modern cloud platforms.
The webinar began with a welcome address, followed by an insightful presentation by the resource person. He explained the key stages of Machine Learning—understanding data, building models, and deploying them efficiently. The session also covered the latest tools and frameworks used in ML, encouraging students to explore hands-on learning. Participants actively interacted during the Q&A session, clarifying their doubts and discussing real-time use cases of ML in various domains.
Workshop on “Navigating Success: Essential Soft Skills for Career Advancement and Higher Education” (6th October 2025)
A one-day workshop titled “Navigating Success: Essential Soft Skills for Career Advancement and Higher Education” was organized by the Department of Computer Applications on 6th October 2025. The event took place at the Crescent Auditorium, Convention Center.
The workshop aimed to enhance students’ interpersonal competencies and professional readiness. Ms. Divya Dharshini delivered an insightful session emphasizing the importance of developing soft skills to foster career growth and initiate a successful professional journey. She elaborated on how improving one’s soft skills plays a vital role in overall career development.
Further, Dr. K. Javubar Sathick delivered a detailed session on “How to Crack Interviews”, providing valuable insights on interview readiness, handling common and technical questions, and presenting oneself professionally. His discussion emphasized the importance of preparation, grooming, and appropriate attire for interviews.
The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to clarify their queries and share their thoughts. Nearly 350 students, including MCA final-year students and UG final-year students from BCA (Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Technology and Information Security, Cyber Security & Data Science) and B.Sc. (Computer Science) programs, actively participated in the workshop.
National Level Workshop on “Cybersecurity: Awareness to Action”
One – Day National Level Workshop,” Cybersecurity: Awareness To Action” was organized on 17th September 2025, from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm. The Department of Computer Applications, School of Computer, Information and Mathematical Sciences organized the event. The Resource person of this workshop was Mr. R. Dhanoop, Cybersecurity Analyst, TechByHeart India Pvt. Ltd., and was held at the Auditorium, Convention Centre, BSA Crescent Institute.
The workshop was attended by students, faculty, and research scholars from colleges across Tamil Nadu and neighboring states. Over 500 participants from 21 different colleges and universities took part in the workshop.
Inauguration of Computer Applications Association and Computer Society of India
An event was organized on “Inauguration of Computer Applications Association and Computer Society of India” was held on 12 September 2025, scheduled from 09.30 AM – 12.30 PM in the Convention Centre Auditorium. It was organized by the Department of Computer Applications and the School of Computer Information and Mathematical Sciences.
The event commenced with a Qirath by Mr. Syed Bhurkhan – II-BCA (CTIS). Dr M Syed Masood, Head of the Department, Department of Computer Applications cordially welcomed the gathering. Dr. Sharmila Shankar, Dean/SCIMS, honoured the chief guest. Mr. J. Mohammed Arshad – II-MCA, presented the Annual Report. Mr. F. Mohammed Sharukhan – III-BCA (CTIS), has introduced the Chief Guest.
The inaugural address was delivered by the Chief Guest Mr. S. Gopinath, Scientist-F, Senior Technical Director, National Informatics Centre, Government of India. He spoke about the Emerging Technologies. Finally, the vote of thanks is conveyed by the Mr. Tom Joe James – II-B.Sc (Computer Science)
Industrial Visit to DIGIAURA VFX Academy Pvt Ltd
On August 20, 2025, an industrial visit was arranged to Digiaura VFX Academy Pvt. Ltd., located in Ekkattuthangal, Chennai. The visit commenced at approximately 10:00 a.m. A group of 71 students – students II – year BCA (Artificial Intelligence), accompanied by faculty members Dr. G. Gomathi, Dr. E. Manogar, Dr. I. Parvin Begum, Dr. N. Parvin, and Mr. Mohammed Jallaluddin, arrived at the academy around 11:00 a.m.
The purpose of the visit was to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the company’s animation development methodologies, artificial intelligence projects, and film-based technologies. During the visit, Mr. Shankar Natarajan, Director of Digiaura VFX Academy, delivered a detailed address outlining the organizational structure, ongoing projects, and the integration and impact of AI and animation technologies on current industry practices.
Guest Lecture on Role of Mechanical Engineers in Design Space – A Career Perspective
The ASME Students’ Section of BSACIST organized a guest lecture on the topic “Role of Mechanical Engineers in Design Space – A Career Perspective” on 14.08.2025 10.00 AM in the seminar hall, MS block. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Babu Devendiran, an industry expert, who addressed the students on the evolving role of mechanical engineers, especially in the context of Industry 4.0.
The session began with an introduction to the importance of mechanical engineering in modern design and manufacturing processes. Mr. Devendiran highlighted how mechanical engineers contribute significantly to product design, development, and innovation.
3 day National level workshop on Industry 4.0 – Industrial Design, Visualization & Conceptualization (6/8/2025 – 8/8/2025)
The industry 4.0 – Industrial Design Visualisation & Conceptualisation” workshop was organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering along with MSME (Govt of India) and Equad Engg services Pvt ltd. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean – School of Mechanical Science and A. S. Selva Kumar, Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering and special address was given by Mrs Vaishnavi CEO Equad Engg Services. Around 30 students from Mechanical Engg, BSAR Crescent Institute of Science and Technology and M/s HL Mando Anand India Pvt ltd participated in the workshop.
At the end of the workshop certificates were issued to participants by Dr. H. Siddhi Jailani, Dean – School of Mechanical Sciences and Dr.S.Rasool Mohideen, Professor / Mechanical Department. Finally, Dr. Ravikumar, Coordinator concluded the workshop with Vote of thanks.
Seminar on “Opportunities for Global Education” on 1st August 2025
The Department of Information Technology, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, successfully organized a seminar titled “Opportunities for Global Education” on 1st August 2025 at IT Lab 3. The event aimed to provide students with valuable insights into higher education prospects abroad, including international opportunities for career growth, scholarships, and global exposure.The seminar was attended by the III Year B.Tech IT students along with the faculty members of the department. A total of around 64 students participated in the seminar.
One Day Faculty Training Program on 3D printing
In a forward-thinking initiative to promote technological fluency and hands-on innovation, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council, hosted a one-day faculty training program on 3D printing. Held on July 10, 2025, the event brought together over 15 faculty members from various departments—both teaching and non-teaching staff—with a strong presence from the Mechanical Engineering community.
The session was designed to demystify the 3D printing process and empower educators with practical skills that can be applied in classrooms, labs, and research projects. Participants praised the interactive format and expressed enthusiasm for future sessions.
