B.Com (Professional Accounting) students had the opportunity, on August 20, 2024, to visit the Miles Institute at Tidel Park. Field visits are a crucial component of education designed to enhance students’ learning experiences by providing opportunities to explore and learn beyond the classroom setting. This visit provided an insightful opportunity to observe the organization’s training operations and professional development programs in action. A conducive learning environment remains unwavering that made significant strides in enhancing facilities and resources aimed at fostering innovation, collaboration, and personal growth.

Industrial Visit to Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company private limited
The department of commerce has organized an industrial visit to Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company (P) Limited. On April 24, 2024, 22 students of II M.Com along with two faculty members – Dr. N.Kogila and R.Sebastin – had the privilege of embarking on an educational and insightful industrial visit atIdukki District in Kerala State. Industrial Visit to Adani Kattupalli Port
The department of commerce has organized a one day industrial visit to Adani Port private limited at Kattupalli. On February 27, 2024, 38 students of I M.Com (General) along with two faculty members – Dr. T. Porkodi and Dr. G.Stella – had the privilege of embarking on an educational and insightful industrial visit under the project UDAAN by Adani Foundations. Under this project, an exposure tour is organized wherein students are given a chance to visit the Adani Kattupalli Port to get an insight into the large scale business activities carried out there.

Field Visit to Tamilnadu Co-Operative Milk Producers Federation Ltd (AAVIN) on 01.02.2024
Field visits are an integral aspect of teaching that aim to improve every student’s educational experience by giving them a chance to learn outside of the classroom. A one-day field visit to Tamilnadu Co-Operative Milk Producers Federation Ltd (Aavin) was scheduled for 60 students of B.Com (Accounts And Finance) along with them 17 students from Sullamusalam science college, Kerala also accompanied the field visit on 1st February, 2024, escorted by Dr.N.A.Arshiya Afrin(Facility), Dr.K.Porkodi(Facility) and Mr.Nizamudin (Research Scholar). Our visit kicked started with half an hour introduction video session on Aavin till date with the help of Mr.Thiyagarajan (Manager) of Sholinganallur dairy products.
Industrial Visit To Lucas – TVS (P) Ltd., Pondicherry
On November 4, 2023, 45 students of II BBA FS (Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Services) along with three faculty members – Dr. R. Prakash, Dr. Indumathi, and Prof. Mohammed Sherfuddin – had the privilege of embarking on an educational and insightful industrial visit to Lucas-TVS, Pondicherry. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to witness first-hand the inner workings of one of India’s leading automotive components manufacturing companies and interact with their HR team. Lucas-TVS is renowned for its contributions to the automotive industry and is recognized for producing high-quality components such as windshield motors. During the visit, we were exposed to the company’s innovative use of automation in their production processes.
Field Visit to Miles Education
The Department of Commerce considered adding professional courses to the regular curriculum in addition to the typical one so that students could establish their worth in the workforce.”Miles is one of the world’s largest training providers for US CPA, CMA, CFA & FRM. Partnered with 220+ MNCs including the Big 4s, for training & placements & 70+ universities and autonomous colleges for upskilling of students. In 2022, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Miles Education to support the development of the next generation of commerce graduates.

A two-day field tour at Miles Education was scheduled for the B.Com (Professional Accounting) students on 31st October and 1st November, 2023.
A motivational speech by chartered accountant Mr.SolaiyappanKabali kicked off the session. In addition to outlining current employment openings for CPA-qualified candidates, he also discussed the value of networking with professionals on social media. Professional CPAs answered the students’ questions about study materials, test length, test-taking strategies, and exam-cracking techniques.
