Crescent Innovation and Startup Club

Overview

The Crescent Innovation and Startup Club (CISC) focuses on fostering creativity and innovation through hands-on activities related to building and technology. It offers seminars and workshops and provides guidance to empower students to launch their startups. The club’s main purpose is to serve as a platform for members to collaborate, share ideas, and explore new technologies in a supportive environment.

Tagline

“Innovate Today, Lead Tomorrow.” This tagline emphasizes the importance of acting now to innovate. It suggests that the efforts and ideas generated today will shape the leaders of tomorrow.

Vision

To nurture a generation of innovative student entrepreneurs through creativity and strategic thinking, and to transform their ideas into tangible, impactful solutions. These solutions will drive economic development, foster societal progress, and contribute to a sustainable future, positioning our community as a hub of entrepreneurial excellence and innovation.

Mission

To offer students comprehensive exposure to the essential elements of entrepreneurship, including problem identification, design thinking, and diverse problem-solving techniques. By equipping students with these critical skills, we lay a strong foundation for them to develop into innovative and capable young entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs will be well-prepared to address the challenges of our time, drive economic growth, and contribute to the nation’s progress and prosperity.

Objectives of the Club

  • Promote Entrepreneurial Thinking: Cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among students by encouraging creativity, innovation, and risk-taking.
  • Skill Development: Provide training and workshops on essential entrepreneurial skills such as business planning, market research, financial management, and marketing strategies.
  • Networking Opportunities: Facilitate connections with industry experts, successful entrepreneurs, and potential investors through seminars, guest lectures, and networking events.
  • Mentorship and Support: Offer mentorship programs where experienced entrepreneurs and professionals guide students in developing and launching their startup ideas.
  • Real-world Experience: Create opportunities for students to work on real-world projects, engage in internships, and participate in startup incubators and accelerators.

Goal

The primary goal of CISC is to inspire and empower its members to become proficient builders, innovators, and entrepreneurs. The club aims to foster a community where members can confidently create and innovate in technology and building fields by providing a platform for hands-on learning, skill development, and entrepreneurial guidance. Ultimately, the goal is to prepare members to make meaningful contributions to their communities and industries through their projects, startups, and ideas.

Outcome

The desired outcome of the Build Club is to see its members flourish as skilled builders, innovative thinkers, and successful entrepreneurs. Furthermore, they will gain practical skills and knowledge that enable them to:

  • Create Innovative Solutions: Develop and implement new ideas and technologies that address real-world challenges in diverse fields.
  • Launch Successful Startups: Establish and grow their own ventures with support from the club’s resources and mentorship.
  • Collaborate Effectively: Engage in meaningful collaborations within the club and with external partners to amplify their impact.
  • Contribute to Society: Make positive contributions to their communities and industries through impactful projects and initiatives.
  • Continuously Learn and Grow: Embrace a mindset of lifelong learning and personal development to stay at the forefront of technological advancements and entrepreneurial practices.

Goals Reached & Past Events

  • Workshops – Conducted multiple workshops on both hardware and software. The club was able to teach participants new skills. These could be technical, soft, or specialized skills.
  • SIH’22 – Organized and volunteered for the Smart India Hackathon 2022. Organizing such a big hackathon has increased the brand value of the club, making it closer to its goals.
  • IITMRP Visit – The field visit brought in amazing collaboration and networks among the members of the club.
  • Cresathon’23 – (2-4 March 2023) Organized a hackathon for Crescent students, where each student was able to display their talent in the technical aspect. By organizing this hackathon, the club achieved its goal in community engagement, brand building, innovation promotion, and finally community impact.
  • One day shop – (18th August 2023) – This event gave students the opportunity to gain valuable insights into problem-solving, business planning, and networking. Many participants left feeling inspired and equipped with practical knowledge to begin their entrepreneurial journeys.
  • Created countless Hardware and software projects including Maze robot, Gesture control, RFID systems and image processing.
  • Pitch yourself Challenge (3rd November 2023) – Students from our college participated in the Pitch Yourself Challenge, showcasing their entrepreneurial skills. This challenge encourages individuals to create a compelling and concise presentation about themselves, like how entrepreneurs pitch their startups to investors. This event gave the idea of startups to the public which was ultimately the goal of the club to promote startups and support them.
  • Becrez carnival’24 (22nd & 23rd February 2024) – Conducted a two-day national level event where students from various colleges participated. This event contained Tech Talks by Professionals and Influencers. Moreover, there were countless events such as Bizlens expo, Pitch Yourself Challenge, Project expo, Workshops and Mini hackathons.
