About Data Centre

The state of art Data Centre with high end Blade Servers, Rack Servers and SAN storage worth of Rs. 1 Crore was established in the year 2010 at the annexure building of Computer Science block of B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology.

“The Data Centre would be to provide staffs and students of each department to have 24 hours availability and accessibility to their computing resources through wired and wireless in labs and anywhere in the campus. They can continue their lab works, CAMPIT access, Internet/Intranet and cotent access such as NPTEL through Streaming server”

  • More than 300 Access Points, which covers entire Campus for the usage of 6500 users.

Facilities and Services Provided at the Data Centre

  • The BSACIST had focused consistently deployed best-in-class IT infrastructure and Applications development for Academic and Research support.
  • The campus has been enabled internet service with more than 1GBPS bandwidth on 24×7 supports, providing anytime anywhere access to knowledge and learning resources, keeping in line with demand from students and faculty.
  • The internet bandwidth is enhanced from 100 Mbps to >1 Gbps over last eight years, so that the academic and research activities can be handled with better connectivity.
  • Over 2800+ LAN points were augmented across the campus computer and office spaces.
  • The campus backbone network was upgraded from 100 MBPS to 1GBPS backbone and WiFi Access points over 300+ numbers were deployed across the campus in both academic blocks and hostel blocks for 24X7 internet service for enabling students and faculty to stay connected and access the academic content, anywhere in the campus.
  • A State-of-Art Data Centre was built with an area of 900Sq.Ft, to managing network operations efficiently and hosted all the Rack & Blade servers with continuous power supply.
  • In our Data Centre the Servers and Networks are maintained and provide Computing facility with Network connectivity, across the Data centre and other buildings of BSACIST.
  • Server infrastructure includes high power computing 5 Rack and 4 Blade Servers with 10 TB capacity of SAN storage.
  • The Computer Maintenance cell (CMC) consisting of all the system staffs will work under one roof taking care of the Network, Hardware, Software, Projector and Ups maintenance activities of the Institution. In this connection email ids are created for the queries related to system services, Network Issues and Hardware Issues
  • For any request sent to the concern mail ID (itservices@crescent.education), the Data Centre will create a service ticket assigning the job to the corresponding resource person to sort out and the same will be intimated to the person requested and the assigned person. The same will be recorded in online database in Data Centre. Data Centre will monitor the process until the raised issues get solved.
  • Created and provided internet connectivity to Digital Library with 24/7 Central Computing service with CMC system staff on day and night shifts.
  • Provided internet connectivity to Common Computing Centre with 24/7 service with CMC system staff on day and night shifts.
  • The Cyberoam 1500 iNG Firewall has been deployed for handling enhanced load on Network and Applications catering to academic and Administrative processes, thereby providing a secure campus Network Additional 500E Fortigate Firewall is installed for scalability.
  • Over 2800+ Desktops were deployed in the Computer labs across the Campus to giving Computing facility to the Students and Faculty for Hands on practical sessions.
  • Implemented VMware virtualization solution to enhance the Server availability for the various applications hosted on Campus, to increase the Server’s space and performance on the fly as and when needed. Implemented Biometric Systems for Staff attendance across the campus.
