  • Physical Education is a process of learning through physical activities designed to improve physical fitness, develope motor skills, knowledge and behavior of healthy and active living, sportsmanship and emotional intelligence. Physical Education is not only aimed at physical development but also includes the development of the individual as a whole.
  • To motivate students in participation of sports and games
  • To increase continually the achievement level in inter – institutional Tournaments.
  • To increase the number of students’ participation in the inter – University Tournaments.
  • To create awareness among all students for all round personality Development through sports activities.

The Physical Education Department plays on important role in the personality development of students from the first year (1984-85) itself by involving students in various sports activities and by organizing major sports events.

The department is a full-fledged department having all the infrastructure to play all the outdoor games like Foot Ball, Cricket Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Ball Badminton, Tennis and Indoor games like Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess etc., We have a standard 400 Metres Athletic Track with full equipments, Swimming pool , a well equipped modern Fitness Centre for Men & women separately. Our students won prizes at the National Level & State Level Competitions. Our Institution won the Anna University Zonal Champion College award for Six consecutive years from 2003 – 2009. Our institute is organizing various State level tournaments regularly. Our Institution had the honour of organizing a Mega Sports festival, the Tamilnadu Inter Engineering Sports (TIES-2001) during the year 2001 in our campus. Around 10,000 sports persons both men & women from 87 Engineering colleges from all over the State participated in 20 disciplines including Athletics, spread over 13 days. Our institute had the honour of organizing All India Inter University Ball Badminton women tournament during the year 2014-15.Around 800 players from 80 Universities across the country participated in the tournament.
