Professional Visit

Mr. Rohin, Assistant Manager – Projects, from Suja Shoei Industries Private Limited, an Indo-Japanese joint venture company based in Tindivanam, on 23 December 2025 had the privilege of interaction which offered valuable perspectives on industrial project execution, polymer processing practices, and industry expectations, contributing significantly to bridging the gap between academia and industry.


Amol Kalekar, Senior Manager, and Mr. Bahvesh Borkar, Assistant Manger – Technology Sales from TUV Rheinland (India) Pvt. Ltd., on 24th October 2025. They interacted with the faculty members of the Department of Polymer Engineering and explored the various innovative research projects undertaken by the undergraduate students.


Santhanam Ganesh, Vice President – Sales and Marketing (Rubber Chemicaks and Resin), and Mr. D. Govindrajan, Deputy General Manager – Sales and Technical Services (South), from Finorchem Ltd., interacted with the faculty members and final year students of the Department of Polymer Engineering on 17th April 2025. The discussion was focused on, demand trends in the rubber industry, an overview of the current industrial landscape, and key skills for industry readiness. The department’s testing and consultancy capabilities, ongoing research, and undergraduate student activities were also discussed.

Mr.S.Arul Selvan (Project Delivery Manager), Mr.Rajkumar Maji (Program Manager) and Mr.Satoshi Kimura San (LTTS Client Representative from Japan – Auto TIER 1) of L & T Technology Services Limited, visited Department of Polymer Engineering on 5th December 2019 and discussed about their Materials Test Centre (MTC-LTTS) and the mutual support on Plastic Material Development (i.e., Bioplastics, Automotive and Medical Application) with the Institute.
Mr.Sunil Srivastava (Engineering Director), Mr.Akyuz Baron (Technical Training Manager), and Mr. Muthuvijayan (Material Leader) of TPI Composites India LLP, visited Department of Polymer Engineering on 5th December 2019. The team discussed about the feasibility study for temporary training centre to train their associate / technician

Dr. David Jenkins, Lecturer, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Plymouth University, U.K visited Polymer nanotechnology center on 15th December, 2015 and discussed about the Innovation Project schemes for joint collaboration with our Institute.

The Department of Polymer Engineering organized one day NABL accredited laboratory visit to Indian Rubber Materials Research Institute (IRMRI), Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, for the B.Tech – IV Year students (2021- 2025) on 19th October 2024. The 26 final year students and faculty member Dr.Basanta Kumar Behera visited the sophisticated rubber and polymer testing laboratory which is under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India to gain knowledge about the various testing and characterization techniques for the tyre and polymer industries.

Collaboration

Training on Rubber Technology
  • MoU was signed between BSACIST and Bridgestone Automotive India Pvt. Ltd to train their employees
  • First Training program – 10 days’ program on “Rubber Science and Technology was conducted from 25.04.2019 – 09.05.2019
  • RSDC- Exclusive training in rubber technology is offered to students in collaboration with Rubber Skill development council.
  • The department is involved in building interaction with industries through materials identification and testing and providing analytical solution to their problems.
  • The instruments and equipment available in the Centre are used to provide testing support to the research scholars / students of other academic institutions as well.

IPI – Chennai Chapter

The Chennai Chapter of IPI has been in the service of plastics industry for over 3 decades. The chapter has been conducting Technical Lectures, Seminars and Conferences on a regular basis. Since last 3 years, the Chapter has conducted many Technical Lectures. The Chennai Chapter has conducted 10 technical lectures and 1 seminar on an average every year.
