About Us
CRESMUN, or Crescent Model United Nations, was established by B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology in February 2019. The creation of this club marked the Institute’s first significant step toward joining the international MUN community and fostering leadership qualities among its students.
Vision
- To impart knowledge of diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations among students.

2024-2025: Accomplishments
CRESMUN’25 – 21st March 2025
CRESMUN’25 was hosted by CRESCENT MODEL UNITED NATIONS CLUB (CRESMUN). It was a one-day event held on 21st March 2025 at the Convention Centre Seminar Hall-1, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.
The event commenced with a grand inauguration ceremony, graced by Dr. Karthikeyan Ramalingam, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dr. Ayub Khan Dawood, Dean of SSSH, and Faculty Coordinator Dr. Moon Moon Hussain, who emphasized the importance of youth-led diplomacy in their speeches and encouraged the students to actively engage in finding solutions to global issues and emphasized the importance of addressing the United Nations Agenda, particularly Agenda 2030 and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Sarathi Ganesh M, Secretary General of CRESMUN, delivered a powerful opening speech, reflecting on the club’s accomplishments and declaring the conference open. The event featured two notable speeches by student delegates, Tamali Chowdhury and Ajwadh Jalal, on Human Rights and Drug Trafficking. The conference also marked the transition of leadership, with Sarathi Ganesh M, alongside Dr. Karthikeyan Ramalingam, Dr. Ayub Khan Dawood and Dr. Moon Moon Hussain presenting appointment letters to the new core team, ensuring the legacy of CRESMUN continues with the next generation of leaders. Ms. Thahira Mirza was appointed as the new Secretary-General and Ms. Nithisrini S. as the new Director-General.
Additionally, CRESMUN’25 marked yet another milestone in the club’s journey, bringing together 29 delegates representing Members of Parliament (MPs) in a simulated Rajya Sabha session. The conference focused on addressing pressing national issues through strategic dialogue and policy-making. Two significant bills were introduced and debated: The Manipur–Kuki-Zo Conflict Bill, which proposed solutions for restoring peace and fostering community reconciliation in Manipur, and the Funds Allocation for Southern Development Bill, aimed at boosting infrastructure, healthcare, and education in southern India through equitable financial distribution. The delegates showcased exceptional diplomatic skills, engaging in rigorous debates, policy negotiations, and collaborative resolution drafting, ultimately leading to the successful passing of both bills. The session concluded with the presentation of committee reports and the drafting of resolutions. The day wrapped up with a closing ceremony, where exceptional delegates were acknowledged with awards such as Best Delegate, Best Speaker, and Special Mentions.
2023-2024: Accomplishments
Phase 1: MUN insight – 29th February 2024
CRESMUN conducted an insightful workshop titled “Phase 1: MUN Insight”, was carried out in concurrence with Mr. Karthick V from VITCMUN which received an enthusiastic response from attendees. The session aimed to provide a comprehensive introduction to Model United Nations, covering essential topics such as the basics of MUN procedures, effective public speaking, and diplomatic negotiation techniques. Experienced MUN participants shared their knowledge, offering practical tips and real-world examples. Participants left the workshop with a solid foundation in MUN principles and a greater confidence in their abilities.




2022-2023: Accomplishments
The inauguration of new CRESMUN team – 21st November 2022
After a brief hiatus, the club has regrouped with a fresh perspective and renewed energy in the presence of our distinguished Registrar Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Dean (Student Affairs) Dr. Karthikeyan Ramalingam, Dean (School of Social Sciences and Humanities) Dr. Ayub Khan Dawood and Faculty Coordinator, also Associate Professor, School of Social Sciences and Humanities Dr. Moon Moon Hussain. The new team comprises dedicated and enthusiastic members, committed to upholding the club’s tradition of excellence. CRESMUN aims to foster intellectual growth and global awareness through its innovative initiatives and engaging activities. Join us in celebrating this exciting new chapter as we continue to inspire and empower the leaders of tomorrow.
How to MUN Workshop – 11th April 2023
CRESMUN hosted an engaging workshop titled “How to MUN”, with 150 participants which was a resounding success. The event attracted a diverse group of participants’ eager to enhance their Model United Nations skills. The Secretary General and Secretary General’s Team led the workshop, providing invaluable insights into effective debating, resolution writing, and diplomatic negotiation. Attendees left with a deeper understanding of MUN procedures and newfound confidence in their abilities.
MUN Conference – 29th August 2023
CRESMUN proudly participated in the District Eco-SDG Championship 2023, organized by APEX SDG. The conference focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aimed at finding actionable solutions to global challenges. The two speaking committees were UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organisation). The IPC (International Press Corps) included the photographers and reporters. Representing the club, CRESMUN took on two critical SDG goals as its agenda: SDG1 (No Poverty) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). The agenda under UNDP came up with suitable policy implications to eradicate poverty and hunger (SDG 1&2) while the agenda under the UNIDO suggested appropriate remedies to achieve sustainable industrial development (SDG 9). Through insightful discussions and collaborative efforts, the team proposed innovative strategies to combat poverty and promote sustainable industrialization. With 13 delegation countries and 4 elective board members, the assembly was conducted successfully and resolution was drafted by the Director of the Assembly, Dr. Moon Moon Hussain. Further, Dr. Moon Moon Hussain also suggested a few resolutions for the State of Tamil Nadu to retain its second spot in NITI Aayog’s SDG India Index as well as level up its achievements in tune with developed countries of the world. The event was a great success, showcasing CRESMUN’s commitment to addressing pressing global issues and contributing to a sustainable future.

Establishment of The Club: February 2019
The MUN Workshop – 16-03-2019
Within a month of establishment, the CRESMUN club conducted its first ever workshop in the history of the institute. The workshop titled “ HOW TO MUN? “ was carried out in concurrence with Mr. Mohamed Adeep Ahmed from VITCMUN and Ms. Afra from MOPVMUN. The workshop was conducted to introduce MUN to the students, covering its workings and committees. This event engrossed participation of students from diverse departments and years.

Position Paper Writing Practice
The delegates were given an agenda, assigned a committee and a choice of delegation to write a position paper .They were given a particular time duration for preparation and the position papers were collected on 26-07-2019. The outcome of this task was to enable the delegates to grasp the idea of presenting the position paper, an essential document submitted before the start of MUN.
Updation of Technical Information
In order for the delegates to explore the acquaintance of MUN, the social media platform of CRESMUN – Instagram page and WhatsApp group were updated with documents and videos related to MUN. This facilitates the students to be in regular touch with the art of MUN. It also enables interaction of student delegates with the office bearers in clarification of doubts. The updation would be done 5 days per week.
2019-2020: Chores Ahead
MUN Practice Sessions
Execution is as important as learning. Hence CRESMUN has decided to consolidate the knowledge gained by the delegates by conducting lunch hour MUN practice sessions at least 2 days per week. This mini practice sessions would permit the students to apply the theoretical knowledge and also enable the board members to pilot them onto the right track by correcting their mistakes.
INTRAMUN
The first ever Crescent Institute’s MUN event – INTRAMUN would be organized within a few weeks after regular practice sessions. MUN on a very small scale would be held and delegation only within the institute would be entertained as this serves as the final practice session for the students before venturing out into other reputed MUN communities.
The Real Time MUN
Finally, in the odd semester, the trained students would be sent out to participate in MUN activities held outside our Institute. Many colleges, universities and institutes would conduct MUN during the month of January. This participation would aid us in establishing Crescent MUN community beyond our compound.
Mock Parliament
CRESMUN being a simulation activity and the club being dedicated to mock events, another event called MOCK PARLIAMENT will also be conducted. Hear a joint sitting of both the houses (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) will be simulated. A bill will be introduced on the floor and the participants will delegate as ministers, members of ruling party, members of opposition party to pass the bill or otherwise too.
