Department of Aerospace Engineering
Admissions opened for B.Sc. in Aviation, B.Tech. in Aeronautical Engineering, and M.Tech. in Avionics
The Department of Aerospace Engineering, established in 2010, offers a range of programs including a 4-year full-time B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering, M.Tech in Avionics, and B.Sc in Aviation. It boasts a team of highly qualified faculty members with extensive industrial and academic experience. This diverse expertise enriches the department’s research and development initiatives. To enhance learning, the department integrates ICT-enabled teaching techniques alongside traditional chalk-and-talk methods.
The B.Tech curriculum features a robust combination of core courses, basic sciences, humanities, basic engineering, and five elective options. Core subjects span critical areas of Aeronautical Engineering such as Aerodynamics, Aircraft Structures, Flight Dynamics, Propulsion, Avionics, Aircraft Design, Rockets and Missiles, Aircraft Systems and Instrumentation, and Aircraft Maintenance. Students receive hands-on training in industry-relevant modelling and simulation software, including CATIA, ANSYS, HYPER-MESH, and FLUENT. The curriculum also includes practical sessions in well-equipped laboratories such as the Aircraft Systems Laboratory, Aircraft Structures Laboratory, Aerodynamics Laboratory, Propulsion and Aero Engine Laboratory, Simulation Laboratory, Aircraft Structures Repair Laboratory, and Avionics Laboratory.
The M.Tech in Avionics program is a two-year course designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to design, develop, integrate, and test digital avionics systems for aircraft. The program also familiarizes students with aircraft cockpit systems, including control, monitoring, communication, navigation, weather, and anti-collision systems.
The B.Sc in Aviation program emphasizes building a strong foundation in theoretical aviation knowledge, crucial for obtaining a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) as per DGCA standards. Students also gain insights into careers such as Air Traffic Control Officer, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, and other aviation-related roles.
The Department of Aerospace Engineering provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary education that prepares students for diverse careers in the design, manufacturing, maintenance, and management of aerospace vehicles, including airplanes, helicopters, gliders, launch vehicles, missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
