Guest Lecture on “Applications of Sensors and Transducers in Industry”
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a guest lecture titled “Applications of Sensors and Transducers in Industry “on 29.08.2024 from 09.50 AM to 11.00 AM at EEE seminar hall. The event aimed to enrich the students about the various types of sensors and design considerations of sensors for bio medical and industry applications.
Dr. R. Jayashree, the proficient Professor and Head of the Department of EEE, delivered a warm and insightful welcome address, setting the tone for the informative session. The guest lecture’s eminent resource person, Dr. K. Baskaran, Chief Manager, SRF Ltd, Chennai shared his knowledge to the 28 pre-final year EEE students (Sensors for Biomedical Applications elective) with the applications of various sensors in industry and biomedical field.
Guest Lecture on Biomedical Instrumentation and Signal Analysis
A guest lecture on the topic “Biomedical Instrumentation and Signal Analysis” was organized for final year B.Tech (EEE) students on 23rd August, 2024 by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm at Seminar Hall, EEE Department. Dr. Jeyakumar Vijay, Associate Professor, Department of Bio-Medical Engineering, SSN, Chennai served as the guest speaker for the event. The event commenced at 11.00 AM with an introduction to the theme of the lecture, providing insights into the fundamental principles of biomedical instrumentation and the analysis of biomedical signals, highlighting their importance in the field of healthcare technology. Dr. Divya Vijay delivered the welcome address, highlighting the importance of bio medical instrumentation in the field of medical devices and signal processing techniques and introducing the esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Jeyakumar Vijay.
Dr. Jeyakumar Vijay structured his lecture into several key sections:
a) Introduction to Biomedical Instrumentation, b) Basic Principles of Biomedical Instruments, c) Overview of Biomedical Signals, d) Signal Acquisition and Processing, e) Signal Analysis and Interpretation, f) Case Studies and Applications
Dr. R.Durga Devi delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Dr. Jeyakumar Vijay for his enlightening lecture and thanking all the attendees for their participation.The guest lecture was a significant success, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the role of biomedical instrumentation in the field of engineering and the future prospects of the healthcare system. The event concluded at 12.30 PM, with participants feeling inspired and more knowledgeable about the field of biomedical instrumentation. Dr. Divya Vijay and Dr. R. Guest Lecture on “Electrical Machines”
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at BSACIST organized a guest lecture on the topic of “Electrical Machines” on 19th August 2024. The event was part of the ongoing efforts by the department to provide students with insights into advanced topics in their field of study, delivered by industry experts.
Dr. Ahamed Bilal Asaf Ali, an expert in Electrical Machines and E-Drives from Bucher Hydraulics, Switzerland, was invited as the guest speaker. The lecture was held in Seminar Hall – I at the Convention Centre of BSACIST and saw active participation from students OF 2nd year, 3rd year and final year B.Tech. EEE and faculty members. Dr. S Jennathu Beevi, Associate Professor, introduced the guest speaker. Dr R Jayashree, Prof. & HoD / EEE welcomed the speaker with a memento.
Guest Lecture On “ANN based Transmission Loss Allocation In Restructure based Power Systems”
On the 14th of August 2024, the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department at BSACIST hosted a highly insightful guest lecture on the topic “ANN Based Transmission Loss Allocation in Restructure Based Power Systems.” The lecture was delivered by Dr. S. Arunachalam, a distinguished lecturer from the University of Salford, Greater Manchester, UK. The session began with an introduction of the speaker by Dr. R Jayashree, Professor and Head of the Department (HOD) of EEE, who highlighted Dr. Arunachalam’s extensive experience and contributions to the field of power systems. The participants were the students who have enrolled in the Elective course EEDX51 Artificial Intelligence for Electrical Engineers from B.Tech and M.Tech Power Systems Engineering students who have enrolled in EEEY001 Restructured Power Systems course.
Guest Lecture On “The Era Of CMOS From Micro – To Nano Electronics”
On the 13th of August 2024, the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department at BSACIST conducted a guest lecture on the topic “ The era of CMOS from micro – to – nanoelectronics for the benefits of third year EEE students The lecture was delivered by, Dr. Kumar Prasannajit Pradhan, Assistant Professor, an eminent professor, from IIITDM. The session began with an introduction of the speaker by Dr. R Jayashree, Professor and Head of the Department (HOD) of EEE, who highlighted Dr. Kumar Prasannajit Pradhan’s experience and achievements in the field of VLSI design.
The participants were the students who have enrolled in the course EED 3104 – VLSI Design.

Guest Lecture on Exploring Data Science: Unveiling the Future of Problem Solving
On May 2, 2024, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a guest lecture titled “Exploring Data Science: Unveiling the Future of Problem Solving” for second and third-year B.Tech (EEE) students at Seminar Hall 1, Convention Centre. Mr. Dinesh Ramu, an expert in data science, served as the guest speaker. The session aimed to enhance understanding and knowledge of data science and its future scope. Mr. Ramu structured his lecture into key sections, beginning with the pivotal role of data in engineering disciplines and explaining how data-driven approaches enhance engineering solutions and improve efficiency. He provided an overview of data science, its methodologies, and tools, simplifying complex concepts for better understanding. He then shared specific examples from his work at AstraZeneca, illustrating the application of data science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), highlighting projects involving predictive maintenance, smart grid technologies, and optimization of electrical systems. Finally, he offered insights into emerging trends and future directions of data science in engineering, discussing potential advancements in AI, big data analytics, and their implications for engineering practices. The guest lecture was organized by Dr. Divya Vijay and Dr. R. Durga Devi, and attended by around 150 students.
Guest Lecture on Fundamentals of Machines and Transducers for Wind Power Generation System
On March 25, 2024, the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering organized a guest lecture on the Fundamentals of Machines and Transducers for Wind Power Generation Systems for B.Tech students of Electronics and Computer Engineering and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at Seminar Hall 1, Convention Centre. Mr. Prabhu Elangovan, an expert in renewable energy systems with a focus on wind power generation, served as the guest speaker. The session aimed to enhance understanding and knowledge of renewable energy systems, particularly wind power generation. Mr. Prabhu began by providing an overview of wind power generation systems, emphasizing their significance as clean and sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels. The lecture covered the fundamental principles of machines used in wind power generation, focusing on horizontal-axis and vertical-axis turbines, including their working principles, components, and design considerations. Also, discussed the critical role of transducers in monitoring and controlling parameters such as wind speed, direction, turbine rotor speed, and power output to ensure optimal system performance and efficiency. He enriched the session with practical insights through case studies and real-world examples of global wind power projects, addressing challenges, technological advancements, and innovative solutions in wind energy utilization. Dr.R.Durga Devi and Dr. K.Sarmila Har Begam organized the guest lecture and around 60 students attended the lecture.
International Techtalk on “Grid Modernization”
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology marked a significant milestone on 13th May 2024 with the inauguration of IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) at the institute premises. This momentous occasion was accompanied by an enlightening International Techtalk focusing on “Grid Modernization,” tailored for the enrichment of third-year B.Tech EEE students.
The event commenced at 6:30 p.m. with a warm welcome address by Dr. R. Jayashree, Professor & Head of EEE, extending a gracious welcome to all attendees. Following this, Dr. P. Elangovan, the Event Coordinator, introduced the esteemed Chief Guest, Prof. John D. McDonald, the Founder & CEO of JDM Associates, LLC, hailing from Duluth, Georgia, United States.
Prof. John, in his inaugural address, not only inaugurated the IEEE PES but also delved into the intricacies of Grid Modernization, shedding light on recent trends and advancements in the field. His insightful discourse provided a comprehensive understanding of the evolving landscape of electrical grids, emphasizing the importance of modernization in adapting to the dynamic energy demands of the contemporary world.
The event culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Visaga Varshini, a diligent third-year EEE student, expressing gratitude to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement. The success of the event owes much to the meticulous coordination by student coordinators A. Shams Tabrez Hussain, S. Visaga Varshini, and S. Gayathri, all third-year EEE students, who ensured the seamless organization and execution of the proceedings.
Drawing participants from various esteemed institutions in and around Tamil Nadu, the event witnessed the active engagement of approximately 100 eager minds, fostering a collaborative platform for knowledge exchange and academic enrichment.
The inauguration of IEEE PES and the insightful discourse on Grid Modernization not only underscored the institute’s commitment to academic excellence but also epitomized its endeavor to stay abreast of cutting-edge advancements in the realm of electrical and electronics engineering. CYGNUS 2024
CYGNUS 2024, a national level technical symposium was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSACIST). The event, held on April 25, 2024, brought together students and professionals from diverse technical fields to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and participate in various competitive events. The symposium fostered collaboration and innovation, offering a platform for showcasing talent and technical expertise.
The inaugural function of CYGNUS 2024 took place at 09:30 AM in the Auditorium, Convention Center, BSACIST. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Derick Godwin, Associate Vice President of Recode Solutions, who delivered a keynote lecture. His speech provided valuable insights into technological advancements and future trends in the industry. Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Registrar of BSACIST, presided over the function. Dr. R. Jayashree, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, welcomed the gathering, while Dr. C. Tharini, Dean of the School of Electrical and Communication Sciences, felicitated the dignitaries.
CYGNUS 2024 featured a wide array of technical and cultural events designed to test the skills and creativity of participants. Some of the key events included:
Brain Buster: A technical quiz where the first prize of ₹700 was awarded to Muhammed Aaqil from BSACIST, while Mohammed Mudassir Basha, also from BSACIST, secured the second prize of ₹300.
Clash of Minds: A debate competition won by Karthick Raja from Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai, with a prize of ₹1000. The second prize of ₹500 went to Yashwanth Srihari from SRM Valliammai Engineering College.
Hall of War: A competitive event where Hameed Baig H from BSACIST took the first prize of ₹700, and the second prize of ₹300 went to Shameel Ahamed M, also from BSACIST.
The event also featured a Paper Presentation competition, which saw students from SRM University, including Koppola Gokul Sai, Vinit K, and Aranyak Roy, secure the first prize of ₹1000. Mounika M and Selva Prakash S from SRM Valliammai Engineering College won the second prize of ₹500.
Other events included Circuit Debugging, Food Feast, Singing, Silambam, Dance, Show Your Talent, and Photography, where students demonstrated their talents and technical skills across a variety of platforms.
International Webinar on “Current Status and Future Prospects of GaN – HEMTs”
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in association with the BSARCIST IEEE Student Branch at B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology, proudly hosted an international webinar on “Current Status and Future Prospects of GaN – HEMTs.” This highly anticipated event was held online and featured Dr. Tanya Gachovska, a distinguished Power Engineer at MDA Space, Montreal, Canada, as the keynote speaker.
The webinar commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. R. Jayashree, Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Dr. Jayashree’s opening remarks set a positive tone for the session, emphasizing the importance of GaN – HEMTs technology in modern electrical engineering and its promising future. Dr. P. Elangovan, Assistant Professor in the Department of EEE, expertly coordinated the event, ensuring smooth proceedings and engaging interactions throughout the session.
Dr. Tanya Gachovska, with her extensive expertise and experience in the field of power engineering, led the main session. She provided an in-depth exploration of Gallium Nitride High Electron Mobility Transistors (GaN – HEMTs), covering their current status, technological advancements, and future prospects. Dr. Gachovska’s presentation was both informative and inspiring, shedding light on the critical role of GaN – HEMTs in enhancing the efficiency and performance of power electronic systems.
One of the highlights of the webinar was the engaging Q&A session, where Dr. Gachovska addressed numerous queries from the enthusiastic participants. The interaction was dynamic and insightful, allowing attendees to gain a deeper understanding of GaN – HEMTs and their applications. The discussions fostered valuable insights and knowledge sharing among the participants and the speaker.

Faculty Training Program on “Power quality analysis using WT1800E High-Performance Power Analyzer”
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in collaboration with the BSAU IEEE Student Branch, organized a Faculty Training Program on “Power quality analysis using WT1800E High-Performance Power Analyzer” on 13.03.2024 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. at Electrical Machines Laboratory.
The primary objective of this training program was to provide faculty members with a comprehensive understanding of power quality analysis using the state-of-the-art Yokogawa WT1800E High-Performance Power Analyzer. The session aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants, enabling them to effectively utilize this advanced equipment in their academic and research activities.
The program featured Mr. Shafi Mohammad Khan, Director – Technical at Premier Test-Cal Systems, Chennai, as the resource person. Mr. Khan, an expert in the field of power quality analysis and instrumentation, brought with him a wealth of experience and technical know-how, ensuring a highly informative and engaging session.
The session began with an introduction to the importance of power quality in electrical systems, covering the basics of power quality issues such as harmonics, voltage sags, swells, and interruptions. Mr. Khan provided a detailed overview of the Yokogawa WT1800E, highlighting its features, specifications, and capabilities. He explained how this analyzer is designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern power quality analysis.
One of the key aspects of the program was the hands-on demonstration of the WT1800E. Mr. Khan guided the participants through the setup, configuration, and operation of the analyzer, showcasing its practical applications in measuring and analyzing power quality parameters. The session included a segment on data analysis and interpretation, where Mr. Khan demonstrated how to analyze the data obtained from the WT1800E and derive meaningful insights. He emphasized the significance of accurate data interpretation in improving the overall power quality of electrical systems.
The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing the participants to clarify their doubts and discuss various aspects of power quality analysis. Mr. Khan addressed several queries, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
The program saw active participation from 10 faculty members of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Their enthusiastic involvement and keen interest contributed to the success of the event.
The Faculty Training Program on “Power Quality Analysis using WT1800E High-Performance Power Analyzer” was a resounding success. The participants gained significant knowledge and practical skills, which will undoubtedly enhance their teaching and research capabilities. The Department of EEE and the BSAU IEEE Student Branch look forward to organizing more such training programs in the future, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Project Exhibition 2022 (23.06.2022)
The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering organized Project Exhibition on 23.06.2022 through gmeet online mode for final year students from other institution, 20 teams participated in the events from different organizations like KONGU ENGINEERING COLLEGE,, EASWARI ENGINEERING COLLEGE,St. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING ,Hindustan institute of technology and science ,Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr.Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology and Jerusalem College of Engineering. Each team presented their project work they done in final year of their study. The teams are evaluated by Dr.S.Jennathu Beevi, Mr. S.Suresh,Mrs.V.Bharanigha, Dr.K.Shafeeque Ahmed and Dr.R.Zahira Three best teams were chosen and given with cash prize and certificates.

Awareness program on “Energy, Oil & Gas Conservation–Saksham 2022- in collaboration with Energy & Fuel Users Association of India” (21.04.2022)
An awareness program on “Energy, Oil & Gas Conservation– Saksham 2022” was organized on 21.04.2022. Students of B.Tech (EEE), Research scholars and all the faculty members of EEE department participated in the event.
The guest speaker was Mr S Arockiya Antony is a gold medalist from Anna University and holds Master’s degree in petroleum refining and petrochemicals from Anna University in the year 2006. He is a BEE certified energy manager. He is currently working in Chennai Petroleum Corporation limited as Senior manager (production) taking care of Hydrocracking Unit. He has 15 years of experience in the field of hydrocarbon processing and has a strong knowledge base in the areas like Commissioning of process facilities, Hydrogen production facilities, Gasoline production unit, Refinery energy management, Process Modeling and Simulation, etc. He has excellent analytical/technical capabilities in Process unit problem identification and Troubleshooting. His areas of interest are Process simulation, Application of data analytics principles in the field of hydrocarbon processing, Application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of chemical engineering and green energy. Currently he is working on Identifying Artificial Intelligence (AI) application in Refining Industry and Refinery Energy Management through data analytics.
Workshop on “Climate Change, Energy Swaraj and I” (18.04.2022)
A workshop on climate change and its effect was conducted on 18.04.2022. It was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in collaboration with IIT, Bombay. Prof.Chetan Singh Solanki, Prof./ IIT Bombay was the guest speaker. On one side, energy is the driver of our social and economic growth, while on the other side excessive use of fossil energy has caused climate change, which is becoming catastrophic and an threat to human existence. Since each one of us is a user of energy and hence contributor to climate change, each one of us must be part of the climate corrective actions. Adopting to Energy Swaraj or energy by locals for locals can be the solution to climate change, job creation, energy security and improving local economy. The speaker discussed philosophical, technical, economic, social, and environmental aspects of energy and climate change, along with a demonstration of the Energy Swaraj bus having facilities for working, meeting sleeping, cooking, washing, and training. The bus has the facilities to go through all daily activities. Energy Swaraj Yatra bus is demonstrated after the talk. The bus is fitted with 3.2 kW solar panels and 6 kWh of battery storage. It has a 3 kVa inverter. Lights, cooler, cookstove, TV, AC, laptop charging inside the bus are all solar-powered. The engine of the bus runs on diesel. The brochure highlighting the necessary information about the workshop was designed and circulated. A total of 40 faculty members and 500 students participated.

An expert lecture on “Thermo electrically enhanced highly integrated wire bondless SiC half bridge power module” was organized by the Department of EEE of B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology on 25.3.2022 at EEE Department Seminar Hall for the benefit of the B.Tech and M.Tech students, faculty members and research scholars. Dr. Shiladri Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engg, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay delivered the lecture. Dr.Jyotismita Mishra AP/EEE and Dr S.Jennathu Beevi Assistant Professor (Sr.Grade)/EEE organized the expert lecture. Around 60 participants comprising of UG and PG students, faculty members and Ph.D. scholars have participated the seminar.

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering organized a Guest lecture on “Possible ways of attracting research funding” on 22.03.2022 from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm (IST) for the benefit of faculty and research scholars.Around 20 faculty and research scholars attended the event.
Dr.R. Jayashree, HoD/EEE delivered the Welcome address. Dr. V. Gayathri, Senior Assistant Professor, CO2 Research and Green Technologies Centre, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore delivered the lecture about the smart ways to write for a funded project. At the end of lecture, Dr.Y.Mohamed Shuaib ,Associate Professor/EEE delivered the Vote of thanks.
B.Tech EEE (Admission promotion) event at Crescent School, Vandalur, Chennai (16.03.2022)
Career guidance and quiz programme for the Plus Two students were also organized by EEE department of B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent institute of science and technology on 16.3.2022 at Crescent Matriculation Boys Higher Secondary School, Vandalur, Chennai. The event started with formal inaugural address by the Vice Principal of the School followed by the career guidance speech delivered by Dr. Jennathu Beevi AP(Sr.Grade)/EEE. Later on Dr.Shafeeque Ahamed AP/EEE delivered a lecture on “Electrostatics” to plus two students. Then quiz competition was conducted by Mr.S.Suresh, AP/EEE and Dr.K.Shafeeque Ahamed AP/EEE . Around 60 students participated enthusiastically in the quiz competition . Finally the students with top score were awarded with cash prizes.

Four staff members of EEE department visited Vellayan Chettiyar Higher Secondary School, Thiruvottiyur on March 10th 2022 at 01:30 PM for conducting career guidance and quiz programme for the Plus Two students. The event started with formal inaugural address by the Head of the School followed by the introduction of our institution by Dr. Belwin J. Brearley. Later on quiz competition was conducted by Dr. R. Hannah Lalitha, Dr. P. Abirami, Dr. K. R. Shanmuga Vadivu. All the students participated enthusiastically in the event. Career guidance speech and promotional video were presented to motivate the students. The students with top score were awarded with prizes. Finally, the programme was ended with vote of thanks delivered by the AHM of the school.
B.Tech EEE (Admission promotion) event at Mont Fort School, Santhome, Chennai (09.03.22)
Career guidance and quiz programme for the Plus Two students were organized by the department of EEE of B.S.Abdur Rahman Crescent institute of science and technology on 9.3.2022 at Montfort Academy Mylapore, Santhome, Chennai The event started with career guidance speech delivered by Dr. S.Jennathu Beevi, AP(Sr.Grade)/EEE. Later on quiz competition was conducted by Dr R. Zahira AP/EEE, Dr V.Bharanigha AP/EEE and Dr. V.Pramila AP/EEE. All the students participated enthusiastically in the quiz competition . The students with top score were awarded with cash prizes. After the quiz competition, the EEE department students demonstrated the projects to the school students.

Virtual Career Guidance Programme
The department of EEE has arranged a virtual career guidance programme on June 13th, Sunday, from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm, for aspiring candidates who wish to pursue their career in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering stream. Career opportunities in the field of electrical engineering were addressed. Queries related to admission in BSA CRESCENT INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY(BSACIST) were also addressed in this programme. About 52 participants (Plus two students, Diploma holders and Engineering Graduates attended this programme ) registered and attended the event. .

Online Technical Quiz
To promote the admission for B.Tech EEE programme online quiz programme was conducted from June 4th, 2021 to July 4th, 2021. About 60 students from various schools in Tamilnadu and other states have participated in the quiz. The first three winners were selected and cash prizes were distributed. The certificate of participation was issued to all the participants. One Day Free Workshop on “Wireless Charging for Electric Vehicle Application” on June 3rd 2021

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in collaboration with Pantech e-Learning had organized a Webinar on 3rd June 2021 From 11 AM – 12 NOON on the topic “Wireless Charging for Electric Vehicle Application”. In this webinar, the participants were introduced to current research and plans in the Electric vehicle domain. He also explained the approach that big companies like Tesla are implementing in their vehicles. Then a Wireless Charging method for Electric vehicles was simulated using MATLAB software. There were around 52 participants. Moreover, everyone gained immense knowledge and understanding around the topic.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering had organized a Webinar on 7th May 2021 from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM on the topic “Government Schemes for Startup & Qualities to Become a Successful Entrepreneur”. The resource person for this webinar was Mr. E. Mohan, CEO of Infinite Desire (Entrepreneurship Solutions).
The speaker explained: 1. Various schemes that the Government of India has initiated (more than 100), 2. The advantage of financial freedom, 3. The process of starting your own company, 4. Long term struggle and hardships that a business needs to face to be successful. The feedback that we received from the attendees was so positive. We believe that this webinar benefitted all the participants.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) of the School of Electrical & Communication Sciences has organised a one day workshop on “Scientific Documentation and Presentation Using LaTeX” on 8th March, 2019.
Two day Workshop on “Embedded System in Robotics using ARM Cortex M0+”
Two days work shop on “Evolutionary Computing and its application to Engineering using MATLAB” was conducted by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BSACIST on 3rd and 4th of October 2018. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr.S.Kaja Mohideen, Dean/ SECS on 3rd of October 2018. Dr. Y.Mohamed Shuaib, Head of the department, EEE felicitated the gathering.
Around 30 participants from various institutes like VIT, Sairam Engineering College, SSN, Rajalakshmi Engg. College and BSACIST actively attended the workshop. The participants include UG students, faculty members and research scholars from various domains.

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and The department of Mechanical Engineering jointly organized a one day workshop on MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) on the 12th of September 2018. Dr. E. Paul Braineard, Ph.D. (IIT Madras) Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sricity, Chittoor was invited as a guest speaker. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. S. Rasool Mohideen, Professor and Dean (School of Mechanical Sciences) and Dr. S. Kaja Mohideen, Professor and Dean (School of Electrical and Communication Sciences). The convener Dr. Y. Mohamed Shuaib, HOD EEE felicitated the speaker, the workshop coordinators, Mr. K. Saran Kumar, Assistant Professor, Mechanical and Mr. A. Paramasivam, Assistant Professor, EEE gave a brief over view about the workshop and a short note about the speaker.
The speaker briefed on MEMS fabrication techniques during the forenoon session and elaborated on micro pumps as a case study in the afternoon session. The workshop attracted more than 40 student participants both internal and external.
