Professional Society Activities
The department has the following professional societies which stand behind the organization of various technical events to enhance the technical skill of students:
- Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE)
- American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
- Indian Society for Heating Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE)
- Society of Mechanical Engineers (SME)
Activities of SAE:
- SAEINDIA Centre for Automotive Excellence (Surface Engineering)
- SAEINDIA Collegiate Club @ BSAU since 1997
- BAJA – Students all terrain vehicle design competition (2007 onwards on alternate year)
- ASOP (Automotive Students Orientation Program) Tractor Design competition – 2016
- ENDURA Student India 2017 – All terrain vehicle design competition
Activities of ISHRAE:
- The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) is a Professional body
- ISHARAE student chapter was started in the year 2008
- Students got placement in the event called Job Junction held at Bangalore every year

- Cooling load calculation
- Paper presentation in the refrigeration and air conditioning domain
ASME organizes intra¬ university events such as
- Water Rocketry
- Robotic Design
Activities of SME:
Every student of the department is a member of the society
The society organizes various programs to provide the industrial and practical experience to the students to meet the industrial requirements effectively
