Rationale for the Centre
The Built Environment Sector-covering property development, real estate, construction, facilities management, urban planning and infrastructure-contributes significantly to national growth and sustainable urban development.
Yet, the industry faces pressing challenges:
- Shortage of skilled professionals.
- Limited exposure to global best practices.
- Lack of innovation.
- Fragmented academic-industry connect.
With India’s rapid urbanization and the push for smart, inclusive, and resilient cities, there is an urgent need for multidisciplinary learning and innovation.
The RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) – Crescent Centre of Excellence for Built Environment (CoEBE) addresses this need by serving as a dynamic platform that bridges academia and industry, builds talent, fosters research, and promotes sustainability across the built environment lifecycle.
