CLUB ACTIVITIES OF BSACIST
B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSACIST) actively promotes sustainable development goals (SDGs) through various student club activities, as evidenced in the provided reports. A Global Warming Awareness Program was also conducted at Popali Raja Government Higher Secondary School, Puzal, Chennai, on August 17, 2023, by Crescent Creative Strokes Club in collaboration with Amal Foundation. This program involved creating informative charts and presentations to educate young students about the causes, effects, and solutions of global warming.
SDG 4 (Quality Education) is addressed through educational outreach activities. The Crescent Creative Strokes Club’s “Mud Magic” pottery workshop, in collaboration with Studio Pottery Paradise, promotes traditional artistic forms and aligns with SDG goals. The Crescentian Voice Channel, in association with MIT Square, London, and the RAISE Centre of Excellence, delivers engaging broadcasts, fostering international connections and promoting excellence in broadcasting, contributing to SDG 4. Additionally, CRESMUN conducted a workshop titled “Phase 1: MUN Insight” on February 29, 2024, providing a comprehensive introduction to Model United Nations, covering MUN procedures, public speaking, and diplomatic negotiation techniques.
SDG 5 (Gender Equality) is supported through events like “Empower Her” organized by Rotaract Club.

1. PASUMAI VALARPOM
Pasumai Valarpom was a tree plantation drive conducted on March 11, 2024, within the Crescent Campus. 3.Global Awareness on Tsunami and Global Warming: Crescent Global Outreach Mission’s Prestigious Event on World Tsunami Awareness Day (November 5)
On 05th November 2024, Crescent Global Outreach Mission, in collaboration with Crescent Creative Strokes of BSA Crescent Institute of Science-Technology hosted an impactful event on World Tsunami Awareness Day focused on the critical issues of Global Warming and Tsunami Preparedness.
The event featured a distinguished guest lecture by Dr. Purnima Jalihal, Scientist-G (Group Head – EFW) from the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai. Dr. Jalihal, highly knowledgeable in ocean research and technology, shared her invaluable insights on tsunami warning systems and NIOT’s pioneering efforts in ocean technology, enlightening over 600 students and faculty members from various departments.
In her keynote address, Dr. Jalihal detailed NIOT’s critical role in developing tsunami warning systems, emphasizing the importance of awareness and preparedness for natural disasters. The Crescent students, inspired by Dr. Jalihal’s experience and knowledge, engaged actively, reflecting the institute’s commitment to fostering global awareness among future leaders.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Prof.Dr. E. Syed Mohamed extended to the esteemed guest Dr.Purnima Jalihal by Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Registrar, whose presence honored the occasion. Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Karthikeyan Ramalingam joined which was instrumental in the event’s success.
Adding to the session, Dr. E. Syed Mohamed, Coordinator of the event and Faculty Coordinator of Crescent Creative Strokes, presented a seminar on Global Warming in a detailed manner with data. His talk focused on the urgent need to mitigate climate change and outlined the roles and responsibilities each individual holds in reducing the impact of global warming.
A significant highlight of the day was the release of a new book, “Tsunamis Unveiled: Exploring Models, Warnings & Global Systems”, an insightful resource that delves into tsunami models, warning mechanisms, and international systems.

4. CRESCENT CREATIVE STROKES- MUD MAGIC
Introduction
The CCS Workshop: Mud Magic, a pottery event in collaboration with Studio Pottery Paradise, was an exciting experience for all our students. Rasitha, the President of CCS, greeted everyone warmly and gave a brief introduction about pottery before starting the session. Jiyaad, our Secretary, then recited a Qiraat, giving the event a more spiritual feel. We took a moment to honour and to express our gratitude to Dr.Karthikeyan , Dean(Student Affairs), Dr.E.Syed Mohamed, and Ms. Nidhi Arun from CCS for their outstanding contributions. Dr.Karthikeyan Sir inspired us all with his perspective observations about the value of maintaining traditional artistic forms. 5. Phase 1: MUN insight – 29th February 2024
CRESMUN conducted an insightful workshop titled “Phase 1: MUN Insight”, was carried out in concurrence with Mr. Karthick V from VITCMUN which received an enthusiastic response from attendees. The session aimed to provide a comprehensive introduction to Model United Nations, covering essential topics such as the basics of MUN procedures, effective public speaking, and diplomatic negotiation techniques. Experienced MUN participants shared their knowledge, offering practical tips and real-world examples. Participants left the workshop with a solid foundation in MUN principles and a greater confidence in their abilities

6. EMPOWER HER
EmpowerHer was a professional service project dedicated to women’s wellness and psychological health. On March 14, 2024, Dr. Saranya, a wellness psychologist, conducted a session at Crescent Campus. The workshop provided valuable information on women’s health and psychological well-being, benefiting female Rotaractors and students.

7. WORD OF WARRIORS
Word of Warriors was a community service project held on March 12, 2024, focusing on fostering peace and expressing gratitude to the Indian Army. Students prepared and sent thanksgiving letters to honor the army’s dedication and service. The project was conducted both offline and online via Google Forms, benefiting over 35 participants.

8. SMILE ON
Smile On was a free dental camp organized on January 30 and 31, 2024, for students of Crescent Campus. The project aimed to provide essential dental care services, including free tooth cleaning and filling facilities, in collaboration with Chettinad Hospital. The initiative successfully served over 750 participants, emphasizing the importance of dental hygiene and health.

9. SPREADING SMILE

10. EEGAI
Eegai was a community service project focusing on educational support and development. 11. INSIDEOUT
InsideOut was a project focused on promoting mental well-being. 12. INNITHAZH

13. KADAL-KARAI
Kadal-Karai was a community service project aimed at improving beach hygiene. On March 16, 2024, Rotaractors participated in a beach cleaning activity at Kovalam, removing waste and pollutants from the beach shores. This initiative was focused on enhancing the cleanliness and environmental health of the beach area.

14. VANNANGAL
Vannangal was a collaborative project involving 15 co-host clubs, aimed at beautifying a government school near Chintadripet. On April 7, 2024, the initiative involved painting and decorating the school to create an inspiring learning environment. The project transformed the school into a vibrant and welcoming space.

15. ROAD TO SAFETY
Road to Safety was an awareness program held on February 14, 2024, within the BSA Crescent Institute of Science and Technology campus. Organized in collaboration with the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai) Ltd., the event featured a rally and informational sessions emphasizing helmet usage and general road safety measures. The initiative aimed to enhance awareness and promote safer driving practices among students.

16. SUTTRUSULAL

The initiative aimed to increase awareness about maintaining a healthy environment.

17. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS – AWARENESS PROGRAM

The school of infrastructure conducted an awareness program under the theme “Disaster Preparedness” on 01/04/2024 for the third Engineering students pursuing Disaster Management course from 1.30 pm to 3.40 pm.

ABOUT THE SESSION:
Qirath kicked off the ceremony, and followed byTamilThai Vazhthu.Dr. K. Yogeswari, Professor, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and the students. In her welcome address, she elaborated the importance of prevention measures to be taken before any disaster. The event was presided by Mr. Krishnamoorthy, fire service officer. He briefed about the significance of managing disaster and elaborated the ways to prevent and avoid greater impact.

Welcome Address
During the session different types of disasters and their causes were explained in detail along with the mitigation measures. Some case studies such as Chennai flood, LPG gas explosion were discussed in detail. The importance of safety measures in handling the household liquid and gaseous materials were also emphasized.

Event Objective:
The event began with a seminar focusing on Digital Eye Strain, where they educated participants about the impact of prolonged screen use on eye health and provided tips for prevention. Following the seminar, the CareSight Eye Camp, organized by the Rotaract Club of Crescent University in collaboration with Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital, offered free eye check-ups, focusing on diagnosing and addressing eye issues such as digital eye strain and other vision problems. The objective was to raise awareness, educate, and provide accessible eye care to the community.

The event’s logistical groundwork began with the organizing team ensuring the auditorium was not only functional but also aesthetically appealing, creating an inviting atmosphere for the incoming students.
2. Event Commencement (10.50 AM):
Promptly at 10.50 AM, the event commenced with an opening address that set the stage for the day’s activities, welcoming 45 students to the event.
3. MC Takeover (10.55 AM – 11.00 AM):
Masters of Ceremony, Rtr. Gowtham took charge, engaging Rotaract members and guiding them through the day’s exciting and informative agenda.
4. Project Chairperson Welcome Speech (11.00 AM -11.05 AM):
Rtr. Mohamed Irfan Shamaz, Chairperson of the CareSight project, delivered an inspiring welcome speech to inaugurate the event. He outlined the project’s vision and emphasized the importance of event. His motivating address set a positive and encouraging tone for all participants embarking on the importance of seminar about eye-care and wellness.

He also honored and felicitated Dr. Irfan, Deputy Registrar, Dr. Ayub Khan, Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as Mr. Askar, the Branch Manager of Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital, along with his team, for their invaluable contributions to the event.

7. Commencement of Camp (12.00 PM):
Following the felicitations, CareSight Eye Camp officially commenced, offering free eye check-ups to the community. The camp aimed to address various eye health concerns and provide accessible care to the students and faculties.
