Crescent University has taken up quite a few initiatives in the recent past to take education and research to a global height. In the same line of thought, the University has collaborated with IBM Career Education to launch the various co-branded programs for the Engineering students in the Department of Computer Science. This initiative will help the next generation technocrats to learn Analytics, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and many other cutting edge technologies.

The programs will be delivered jointly by the institute Faculty Members and IBM Subject Matter Experts.

This Engineering program has been designed for the students to build a career in Big Data & Business Analytics. Every day we are generating large quantum of semi-structured and unstructured data at an uncontrollable pace. The business organizations are trying to see the hidden insight into it. For the new economy, Data has become a new currency as well a new asset. Taking into account this demand would require a huge supply of data researchers. As per Team Lease Services – a staffing arrangements company – by 2020, India will confront a demand-supply hole of 2, 00,000 analytic data experts due to their target of improving the future of data analysis in their country. Thus, the National Association of Software and Services Company (NASSCOM) have proposed educational programs up gradation to incorporate big data and data analytic in engineering schools.

In almost every organizations, there is a requirement of Data Scientist and Data Analyst to perform data oriented task. Expertise in Big Data Analytics domain leads to handling of business intelligence, large scale data mining and data warehousing projects. The program has been co-developed by the University & IBM Career Education Program to focus in various new areas in Business Intelligence, Big Data Programming, Data Visualization, Cognitive Analytics etc.

The University has set up IBM Software Lab for Emerging Technologies at its campus to provide required and relevant access to the software & other tools to the students. Training will be conducted jointly by University Faculty Members & IBM Subject Experts in every semester.

B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (Specialization in AI and IoT in association with IBM)

Internet of Things has increased enormously in recent years in every Industry. Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the growing network of sensors and internet-connected devices around us. It is the worldwide network of interconnected objects, which allow people or things to be connected anytime, anyplace, with anything and anyone, using any path, any network and any service. The future will see the inter-connectivity of everything from urban transport to medical devices to household appliances, smart watches and other wearable technologies, home electronics and appliances, cars and heart monitoring implants. Internet of Things is relevant for a range of job opportunities including precision agriculture, smart cities, environmental and ecological monitoring, mining and smart manufacturing, security and disaster management, building and home automation, and structural health monitoring.

On the other hand, new generation Artificial Intelligence (AI) encompasses the modern paradigm of machine learning and big data processes that enable you to get predictive insights from a combination of historical amounts of preexisting data processes and real-time observations. AI typically works in tandem with the Internet of Things (IoT), which includes devices like wearables and connected home gadgets. AI is the engine that will power analytics and decision-making from that information.

The Institute has launched co-branded Engineering program in the areas of Artificial Intelligence & Internet of Things in association with IBM. The program aims to train the students to be equipped with a solid theoretical foundation, systematic professional knowledge and strong practical skills in the fields of electronics engineering, computer technology and communications networks, that underpin a wide range of applications in the Internet of Things.

  • Innovative curriculum that has been developed thoughtfully for the programs will be delivered by IBM designated subject experts and trained university faculty jointly.
  • The curriculum caters to the various skill requirements of organizations across the world including Banks, Computer Services, Education, Healthcare, Insurance, Manufacturing, Retail and other industries.
  • A joint committee has been setup between the institute and IBM that will continuously recommend on course curriculum, content, delivery etc. The Committee will monitor and review the activities under these Programs and recommend decisions with respect to any aspect regarding programs.
  • IBM designated experts will be available at the institution to conduct classes face to face, to ensure that the knowledge and skills are imparted effectively.
  • An IBM Software Lab for Emerging Technologies has been setup at the campus. In this Lab, IBM has provided relevant IBM software & curriculum content for courses.
  • The programs bring together the current software content, real-world industry experiences, hands on lab courses and case studies for the students.
  • In each program students will receive the printed course material from IBM, they will have access to various IBM online forums for additional study material and resources to interact with experts & participate in discussions.
  • The students will receive certification from IBM at the completion of the course. Experts from IBM will provide real world challenges for project experience and also mentor the students through the various phases of these projects.
